While cats are certainly fascinating and enigmatic creatures, they are the most popular pets in the world. However, cats are complex creatures, and there is more to them than what meets the eye. Humans have been trying to decipher their behaviors and thoughts for thousands of years, which has spurred many myths and misconceptions about our feline friends.

Some myths about cats can be quite harmless, but some of them can actually be dangerous for them, as some people will treat them differently due to these beliefs.

To separate fact from fiction C3 Pet Care has debunked three of the most widely believed myths about cats. Keep reading to know more.

Myth 1: Cats can be made vegan
As a species, cats are obligate or strict carnivores. In simple terms, this means cats are meat eaters by necessity. Like all other species, they have very specific nutrient needs, and some of those can’t be satisfied by plants or plant products only. Cats’ bodies are not designed in the way they can fully digest vegetables. So cats don’t need vegetables to lead a healthy lifestyle, but protein-rich meat will fulfill the purpose.

Myth 2: Cats are not trainable
Not true! Even though it seems like cats do whatever they want at any moment, they can actually be trained. However, training a cat differs from training other animals because cats will not learn from discipline and will run away from any type of punishment. Cats respond best to positive reinforcement training methods.

Myth 3: Cats are not loyal
Cats can be truly loyal, but unlike dogs, that loyalty comes out of their desire to be loyal to you. A cat is loyal in terms of care and help. Once cats know that you treat them equally, they accept you as a family member and act as a loyal partner. Common signs of loyalty include showing their belly, purring at you, licking your toe, or just rubbing their cheeks to show their affection.
